Periodontal (Gum) Disease
More and more research continues to make connections between your overall health and gum disease (Periodontal Disease). Recent articles in journals such as: American Heart Association, Journal of the American Medical Association, American Dental Association, and others are sighting a link between periodontal disease and systemic diseases. Studies have shown that an estimated 75% of all Americans over age 35 have some form of gum disease, most of them unaware. In 90% of systemic disease such as diabetes, kidney disease, respiratory problems, and heart disease, there have been links shown to oral health problems.
In general, treatment for most forms of periodontal disease are very effective, and we are able to stabilize the condition to prevent it from advancing. This is why we believe regular dental check-ups are vital to not only your oral health, but overall health.
